about roman emperors

Rome's first Emperor was Octavian 'Augusuts' Caesar. The word Emperor comes from the Latin world imperator, which means commander and refers to the extent of power owned by consuls and other groups during the age of Rome's Republic. With absolute imperium, Rome's emperors were thus called Imperator, or Emperor.

Rome's history has been colored by extravagant and impressive men. You have insane megalomaniacs such as Caligula, philosophical men such as Marcus Aurelius and even Christian men (though really officially only in death) like Constantine the Great.

If you would like to read more about the Roman Emperors, I recommend The Imperial Index.
